First, Leandro Barbosa joined Steve Kerr’s coaching staff. Now, another member of the recent dynasty has joined the front office.
Marcus Thompson of the Athletic reported on Monday that Sean Livingston has signed a contract to join the Warriors’ basketball operations staff as director, players affairs and engagement.
“After a year’s vacation, Livingston is ready for the next phase,” Thompson wrote. “The natural maneuver must have been coaching. Livingston officially retired in September of last year after 14 NBA seasons, the last five of which were spent with the Warriors. Those five seasons coincided with Golden State’s five consecutive visits to the NBA Finals.
A three-time champion, Livingston has now rejoined his former coach at Kerr, as well as former teammates Barbosa, Steph Curry, Kell Thompson, Dremond Green and Kevonne Loney and Damien Lee. He became the highest-ranking black man in the Warriors front office since Mitch Richmond in 2008.
