MINNEAPOLIS – The state of Michigan proved that it is a team worthy of a No. 1 seed by defeating No. 1 seed Duke in the East Regional final to reach the Final Four for the first time since 2015. The Spartans are the only veterans of the Final Four between teams in Minneapolis, this being the eighth trip of Tom Izzo and the other coaches making his inaugural appearance on the final weekend of the sport.

Opposed to Izzo is the most novice of the group, Chris Beard. Just in his second year with Texas Tech, he has the Red Raiders in the Final Four for the first time in the history of the program, a year after making history with an Elite Eight career. Texas Tech lost five of its six best scorers on that team, but Jarrett Culver leads a group that has been as dominant and impressive in its NCAA tournament as anyone in the country.

Both teams dominate the defense, ranking among the best in the country in defensive efficiency, and what we should see on Saturday night in the final game of the night is a battle that shows that excellence.
