Sandra Sellers, Georgetown law professor, fired for comments about black students

Georgetown Law fired an associate professor and put another on leave for comments about black students at the university. Sandra Sellers, who is white, said during a Zoom call recorded, “I hate to say this. I end up having this heartbreak every semester that a lot of my inferior kids are black. It happens almost every semester. And it’s like, ‘Oh come on.’ You get some really good ones, but there are also some that are simple. at the bottom. It drives me crazy. ” She apologized in a resignation letter: “I would never do anything to intentionally hurt my students or Georgetown Law and I wish I could take my words back. Regardless of my intention, I have done irreparable harm and I am truly sorry. “David Batson, also part of the call, has been put on leave. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action at Georgetown University opened an investigation. Law School Dean William Treanor called the comments “reprehensible.”
