Sam Darnold celebrated after the Jets traded him to Panthers

Sam Darnold appears to be handling his Jets trade well.

After being acquired from the Panthers on Monday, Darnold walked into a house full of people waiting to celebrate the quarterback’s move, cheering on the 23-year-old with black, blue and silver balloons around him.

Former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer posted a video of Darnold and his teammates on his Instagram story. Palmer has been an offseason quarterback coach for Darnold, Bills star Josh Allen and Bengals No. 1 pick Joe Burrow, among others.

The Jets decided to leave Darnold three years after taking USC No. 3 overall, acquiring a sixth-round pick in 2021, a second-round pick in 2022, and a fourth-round pick in 2022. With Darnold’s departure, the Jets The Jets appear to be betting on taking BYU’s Zach Wilson with the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
