At the end of last month, 9to5Google Found that Home Depot internally listed the “Sabrina” device manufactured by Google for $ 49.99. When we broke the story, more listings were discovered that suggested a slightly higher $ 59 price point.
Android Police Artem Rusakowski This evening says that Target’s retail system now costs $ 49.99 for the device. The more important discovery is Sabrina’s new name: “Google Chromecast with Google TV.” Meanwhile, we previously reported on “Summer Melon” (pink) and “Rock Candy” (gray), but this is Now joined By “Summer Blue.” The names of those colors were subject to change before launch.
Back in May, we exclusively reported that Google plans to recreate Android TV as “Google TV”. It later surfaced that the name will come with a new UI that focuses more on content rather than apps. Since then, renders of the oblique dongle with the “Abhay” microphone-enabled remote have leaked, along with upcoming interface, capabilities and basic specs.
Earlier rumors suggested Nest branding on this dongle to fit the nature of smart displays and speakers as well as general media equipment. Today’s leaks suggest that Google will retain Chromecast branding.
The move will make sense as to how people are already familiar with Chromecast as an affordable streamer, while posing “Nest” can be odd. Again, this device is simply “Chromecast”, with cast capabilities in it.
