The opportunity to start at quarterback was at the top of the list of things Ryan Fitzpatrick searched for in free agency and found it with the Washington soccer team.
During an appearance on 106.7 The Fan on Thursday, Fitzpatrick said that wasn’t the only attraction about signing with the team. Fitzpatrick said there are “more things I like” about his offense than the Dolphins did last year and that he is impressed with what head coach Ron Rivera has built since he was hired last year.
“The first thing I was looking for in free agency was just an opportunity to play, a place that was going to allow me to compete to be the boy,” Fitzpatrick said, via NBCSportsWashington.com. “When I started to cut it down, I just think that Coach Rivera, the culture that is being created, the youthful energy in the building, the playoffs last year, it was 7-9 but it was playoffs and I think this team, there is a lot of optimism and good juju in the building. So I think a lot of those things were taken into account. “
If adding a little Fitzmagic to that good juju pays off on another trip to the playoffs, Fitzpatrick is unlikely to be the latest free agent drawn to what Rivera is doing in Washington.
