Carmelo Anthony and the Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to split during this offseason, as the Thunder seek to collapse or stretch the $ 27.9 million salary cap on the front.
Although Anthony seemed a shell of himself in his only season in Oklahoma City, he reportedly will still have several suitors when he is dispensed, stretched or bought.
According to reports, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are interested, as are the Miami Heat. But Yahoo! Sports Shams Charania reported Friday that the Houston Rockets have become the "strong favorites" to defeat the veteran scorer.
Anthony was in very poor condition last season, so it's interesting that there are several playoff teams, including a Rockets team that was 24 minutes of the NBA Finals would look to add it to the list. Houston already lost Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah to Moute this offseason, and replacing defensive-minded forwards with Anthony, the first to shoot, would be more than disconcerting.
The Lakers could use some shots after signing Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee to play alongside James, but Anthony threw the worst 40.4 percent of his career last season, making it difficult to see him as a great help to any team that tries to dethrone the Golden State Warriors.
