Rosie O’Donnell says she was hardly a lesbian after the comedian came out in 2002


Rosie O’Donnell says she barely became ‘lesbian’ after the comedian stepped out in the wake of 9/11.

Rosie O’Donnell has opened up about coming out.

The 58-year-old comedian said of her 2002 shocking announcement that she was gay during an interview for Red Table Talk: The Estefans, which was scheduled for release on Wednesday.

“When I came on TV after 9/11, it was like a blip,” the former host of The View admitted.

‘I went to a comedy club and I was doing stand-up and I like, “I’m gay. Listen, 9/11, I’m gay. I’m telling you all, I’m gay. If the buildings are back then If I fly away, I am so gay, ‘You know?’

O’Donnell appeared in Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City in February 2002 as part of her acting in the Ovarian Cancer Research benefit.

The announcement came two months before the end of her talk show.

And recently, Rosie sympathized with another talk show host when she extended her support to Ellen DeGeneres.

O’Donnell revealed that he has ‘compassion’ for DeGeners, whose NBC chat show is currently engulfed in a scandal amid comedian oversaw ‘a toxic work environment’.

Like DeGeneres, O’Donnell is a successful comedian and actress who transitioned into a TV talk show host.

The Rosie O’Donnell Show ran for six seasons and won her five Daytime Emmys before she stepped back to spend more time with her children.

She returned to headlines in 2014 for a year-long stint as a co-host on Daytime TV’s The View.
