Robinson is expected to be with Beers for the rest of the season

Star receiver Alan Robinson said he hoped to remain with the Chicago Bears for the rest of the season, though he would not say if he requested a trade.

Robinson is in the final season of his three-year, $ 42 million contract and is seeking an extension. He on Tuesday removed references to Beers from his social media accounts and the Chicago Tribune reported that he would be asked to do business if he could not agree to a new deal.

“I’m not going into that description,” Robinson said Wednesday. “But like I said before, my heart and soul have never been as far away as playing for the city of Chicago and this organization.” Obviously you dive into the business of sports and have different variables. But how I feel about my teammates, how I feel about this team, how I feel about this city and everything like that is missing. ”

Robinson spoke to general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Neggie. And Negi described his interactions with his receiver as productive.

“You know how we roll here,” said Negi. “We talk about things, and that’s why I had a great conversation with Alan. I am excited about where we are. He is a leader, he is a very important part of our team. As for the other part of it, it is not my world. There are both sides to deal with, but I think our players realize all the history that we have here (with detail) regarding caring for people. ”

The 27-year-old Robinson has established himself as one of the Bears’ most productive and respected players since he left Jacksonville to sign with Chicago before the 2018 season. Coming off one of his best seasons since the Jaguars drafted him in the second round of 2016.

Robinson had a career-best 98 receptions and posted his second-highest total in yards (1,147) and touchdown catches (seven) despite playing for one of the NFL’s worst offenses.

In addition to being a major contributor on the field, Robinson is also far from active. All that Robinson appears to do is make a logical candidate for an expansion. But he insisted that his focus this week is against home openers who are against the New York Giants – not negotiating.

He said, “I am going to do all that is behind me and continue to look forward again.”

Robinson saw other receipts such as DeAndre Hopkins of Arizona and Chargers Keane Allen of Los Angeles recently received several deals.

He began to indicate his intention to leave on Tuesday when he removed references to the beer on Twitter and Instagram. He said that “some feelings” and that he is a “passionate person”. ”

“I think everybody knows how passionate I am about the game,” Robinson said. “The passion I had for the city of Chicago.” And the passion I had for the city of Chicago and to make this bear equal and all things equal. ‘

Several peers expressed support for him on social media, and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky clarified his sentiments on Wednesday.

“This is my boy,” Trubisky said. “I know a lot of things about his contract and all that.” And hopefully they will take care of him. Because I and the rest of the team want him around. It is very clear. We all love A-Rob and we know what he brings to this team. And they have to do just that. ”
