Patriots superstar Rob Gronkowski will return to the team for the 2018 season, he announced on Instagram on Tuesday.
"Today I met the coach and informed him that I will be back for the 2018 season with the Pats", Gronkowski. wrote in the publication. "I've been exercising, keeping fit and feeling good, I'm looking forward to another championship."
According to ESPN, Gronkowski agent Drew Rosenhaus said the meeting with Patriots coach Bill Belichick was "very positive and ( that) Rob is committed. "
This announcement ends months of speculation that Gronkowski could retire after Super Bowl LII. There were rumors that he can leave the team to pursue a career as an actor or a career in professional wrestling.
Until now, Gronkowski has been very reluctant to commit to returning to the Patriots.
