The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired former All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots, hoping to pair him with quarterback Tom Brady, hoping to mimic his success with the Patriots on both days can do.
Gronkowski, however, was disappointing in his first game with his new team.
In his Week 1 match against the New Orleans Saints, Gronkowski was targeted three times, and he came down with only two receptions for 11 yards in a 34–23 loss to New Orleans.

Brady threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for touchdowns by St. Cornerback Joris Jenkins, sacked three times, and thrown for 239 passing yards with a 78.3 passer rating. Brady also threw two touchdown passes; One went to taunt OJ Howard, and the other was caught by wide receiver Mike Evans.
Despite the losing effort, Brady and the Bucs actually got off to a great start in the ball game.
The Buccaneers, who started the game’s first campaign at their own 15-yard yard line, put together a nine-play, 85-yard drive in about 9 minutes and Brady dived into the end zone from 2 yards out. Out of his own way, almost always a successful quarterback keeper.

On that drive, Brady was widely associated with Chris Godwin for playing 29-yard passes, and Ronald Jones had 12 rushing yards on five carries.
The Buccaneers were also assisted on a 3-and-2 play from the Saints 38-yard line when Brady threw a beautiful touch-pass to Evans, but Marshon Lattimore made a defensive interception as the Saints made a defensive return.

The tree the Saints quarterback drew was not in its best form, but he was very efficient. He passed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, but did not turn the ball over and only took one sack. His first touchdown pass came when he fed it from 12 yards to Alvin Kamara. And in the fourth quarter, he acquired Emmanuel Sanders offshin for a score of 5-yards.
Brady and the Buccaneers will look to rebound against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. The Saints will travel to Las Vegas to pick up the Raiders.
