Results of the NFL 2017: live results, highlights and more of the week 13

With the calendar turning to December, the NFL regular season hits its streak. With only five weeks remaining, postseason races are wide open at this time and almost every game has a sense of urgency, except for teams that are already out and playing for the draft at this time.

Week 13 only has a decisive stage, but it is notable for being the first of the season. The Eagles could have wrapped up the NFC East title with a Washington victory over Dallas on Thursday, but the Cowboys left them without effect. Instead, the Eagles can secure the division themselves with a victory over the Seahawks on Sunday night. Carson Wentz will try to push his MVP résumé against the exhausted Seattle defense.

But first, there are many important clashes in the afternoon window. The bigger one sees the Vikings 9-2 versus the 7-4 Falcons with both teams coming up at the right time. Case Keenum continues to play well for Minnesota, while Atlanta has rediscovered Julio Jones and is recovering Devonta Freeman from a concussion. The Falcons will have a real test against the vicious defense of the Vikings this week.

In the AFC East action, the Bills seem to be back on track after Nathan Peterman's fiasco, but they face the Patriots for the first time this season. Buffalo will be challenged to keep his playoff hopes alive against Tom Brady and Co.

Elsewhere at 1 p.m. ET, the Lions and the Ravens face each other in a battle of 6-5 teams. The Baltimore offense is pretty bad this year, but the defense keeps it in the Wild Card conversation. The Lions are in danger of being left behind in a loaded NFC race.

The afternoon is led by a battle of the NFC South between the 8-3 Panthers and Saints with the first place in the division on the line. New Orleans criticized Carolina in Week 3, 34-13, and her offense has uncovered a new superstar in Alvin Kamara. The Panthers, winners of four consecutive, will try to close that game with their elite defense.

Last season, the Chargers were the only team to lose to the Browns. They will seek revenge late in the afternoon and will also try to keep pace in the AFC West. LA has escaped from a 0-4 start to win five of their last seven and put a little heat on the Chiefs in the division race.
