Residents of Puerto Rico grateful after OG & E gangs reestablish power

Local teams are making a difference in Puerto Rico as they work to restore power after Hurricane Maria.

Many of the people there have not had electricity for more than 120 days.

The OG & E crews will work there for another 20 days before another team takes their place.

Officials with OG & E posted photos on social media showing the next team preparing to leave as they took safety orientation and received vaccinations before that trip.

The group will relieve the current crew working on the island.

The sister station of 40/29 KOCO spoke with one of the workers to help restore power in Puerto Rico. Rick Berg said that in a matter of days they would have restored power to more than 500 people.

Berg said he is delighted to help the island of Puerto Rico, just as other people have helped the Oklahomans in our time of need.

"You know that people have come to help us, from the bombing to our main events that we have had, and for us to come here and try to help these people, and they are good people, they love OG & E and they love to Thunder, "said Berg.

Berg said that people in Puerto Rico are extremely grateful for their help.
