Representative Trent Franks resigns from Congress

Rep. A source said that Franks would resign before what the source described as imminent claims of inappropriate behavior.


Franks was harassed by reporters when he left the floor of the House on Thursday afternoon but did not answer questions.

"I will let the statement speak for itself," he said.

When news of his resignation broke, his Republican colleagues approached Franks on the floor of the House of Representatives, all with stone faces.

Several conservative comrades sat with Franks, bowed their heads and prayed.

Franks represents a secure GOP district northwest of Phoenix.
