REMARK: Syracuse ends the first half against Duke with a 70-foot hitter to help keep the game close

Syracuse striker Elijah Hughes capped a remarkable first half of 18 points against the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils on Monday by throwing (and making) a 70-foot, three-quarter shot on the court when time expires in the first half.

The shot was a prayer when it faded to the right, but the ball caught the edge just before it slid through the net.

The shot gave Syracuse a one-point deficit at halftime in Cameron's indoor stadium. Without first-year star Tre Jones (shoulder) and Cameron Reddish (illness), Duke clings to a 49-48 lead in the second half.
