After years of waiting, Sea of Thieves is coming. While many are preparing to travel to the high seas with their friends next Tuesday, we have recently learned some more details about the game just before its release.
Several members of the Rare Ltd. development team recently took Reddit to an AMA (ask me anything) related to everything and everything related to Sea of Thieves . There were dozens and dozens of different questions answered in the thread, but these are some of the most interesting information nuggets we found.
A Reddit user named peraldon asked Rare about the post-launch DLC for Sea of Thieves and whether or not they would reveal the game's roadmap for the first year's content plans after the launch of the game. Joe Neate, executive producer at Sea of Thieves answered the question and said the following:
I think it's likely that we only cover a few months before to keep the mystery (so you can be surprised and delighted) and then we can be reactive. Things will change as Sea of Thieves evolves. We want to take the time to reveal what the features mean for players before putting them in their hands. We have carried out a program for not saying politics for the whole project so far and we are committed to that.
Another popular theme during the AMA was about character customization in Sea of Thieves . The user of Reddit, ColoniaCroisant, asked about the possibility of seeing different pirates from several other regions of the world. The response gave the players the hope of seeing this more in future content drops.
Yes. The art team has worked a lot on different cosmetics, and I have already seen some initial works on an oriental style that is super cool. We will see more cosmetic styles as we go.
Again on the subject of personalization, user Mavorant asked about the possibility of customizing the tattoo added to Sea of Thieves considering the importance of tattoos in pirate culture. Ted Timmins, of Rare, responded and again said it is something they hope to add in the future.
Like hair color, we are working on the design of how we get tattoos for players. We love the idea of unlocking a tattoo after an event in the game. Our IPG technology means that we can do this, we think it's great and we'll see it after the launch.
Laslty, the Reddit user, Danis5, asked if we could ever add flags to the ships in an effort to point to the intentions of other players in the PvE environment of the game. Rare said:
Short answer: we absolutely want, it's a great way to point out the intention (or deceive people). I just have to remember where this comes from in our plans, but yes, it sounds great.
There were many other questions along the thread that dealt with missions, ship names and caves / dungeons throughout the game world. If you want to verify all the thread by yourself, you can find it here.
As mentioned earlier, Sea of Thieves is just a few hours away from reaching this point and will launch on Xbox One and PC this Tuesday, March 20.
