Publix is reopening appointment registration for the COVID-19 vaccine after shipping disruptions last week delayed vaccine deliveries.
Snow storms and inclement weather across the country last week prevented Moderna’s vials from reaching Publix stores in Florida, delaying the launch of new appointments. On Wednesday, Publix will open appointment registrations on its online system at 273 stores in 20 counties, including Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.
The number of appointments available at each store will vary, depending on the Lakeland-based chain.
Publix says it plans to roll out a new appointment availability every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning for its Florida stores. Publix said the system will continue “as long as the company continues to receive vaccine doses from the state and federal governments.”
Appointment availability will vary by store.
To sign up for an appointment, go to publix.com/covidvaccine. Publix will only accept citations made online.
