Kelly Rittenhouse may not have broken the terms of her bail when she was seen at a bar with her mother, but that’s just the problem, according to prosecutors who want to modify the terms of her release.
After posting $ 2 million bail in November, the 18-year-old Rittenhouse was seen drinking alcohol in a bar in Wisconsin, where drinking alcohol in one’s parents’ company is legal. Police said, was not a crime.
But on Wednesday, Kenosha County prosecutors said Rittenhouse – accused of killing two people in a protest against a Black Lives Matter in Kenosha last August – was not just with the mother, but the far-flung boys. Also, an extremist who has engaged in street violence against anti-racist activists, Milwaukee television station TMJ4 reported.
Footage taken from security cameras at Puggy’s bar shows Rattenhouse flashing the “fine” hand sign favored by white supremacists.
This, too, is not a violation of Rittenhouse’s bail conditions. But it should be, prosecutors argue.
In a motion received by TMJ4, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office asks that Rittenhouse be banned from drinking alcohol (they say he was three beers at Pudi); Prohibited from public displays of “white power” signs; And there is a ban on having any contact with members of white supremacist organizations.
Rittenhouse is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, with jury selection beginning March 29.
