Princess Eugenie and her husband have chosen a name for their baby

Britain’s Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank named their baby August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, Buckingham Palace said on Saturday. The baby, the ninth great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, was born on February 9 at Portland Hospital in London.

One of the baby’s middle names seems to pay homage to Eugenie’s grandfather, Prince philip. The queen’s husband, 99, is currently in a London hospital where he was admitted on Tuesday after feeling ill.

Eugenie, 30, is the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York and granddaughter of the Queen. The baby, who weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, is their first child and ranks 11th in line to the British throne.

Eugenie married Brooksbank, a 35-year-old businessman, in October 2018 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Eugenie posted a photo on Instagram of the couple holding their son, who is wrapped in a blue blanket with a matching cap.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are filled with love for this little human, words cannot be expressed,” he wrote, adding that the photo was taken “by our wonderful midwife.”

“Thank you to the wonderful essential workers, including our midwife who came to discharge our child,” she said.
