Thirty-three percent of registered voters in the July 24-26 poll approved the president’s job on the economy, a drop of 1 percentage point from the previous poll held July 7-10.
Likewise, 54 percent of voters in the poll said Trump approved of how they are doing the job.
The survey found that presidential numbers on the economy and jobs declined over time, as the spread of the coronovirus epidemic slowed after the start of the lockdown.
In the March 8-9 poll, about 59 percent of voters approved their economy and handling of jobs.
The poll is being released as the severity of the coronovirus epidemic toll on the economy is more pronounced.
The Commerce Department reported on Thursday that the economy had shrunk to an annual rate of 32.9 percent in the second quarter, a record amount.
The Labor Department’s new unemployment numbers also found that initial unemployment claims are rising for the second consecutive week.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online between July 24 and 26 among 2,842 registered voters. It has an error of plus or minus 1.84 percentage points.
