Police search for man who allegedly ran over a pregnant woman and stole her car

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison police are searching for a man who they say ran over a pregnant woman while stealing her car from a gas station Sunday afternoon.

Madison police say they responded to Kwik’s trip at 7717 Mineral Point Road just before 12:30 p.m. for a carjacking. The 34-year-old pregnant woman told police she was filling her tires with air when the thief got into her moving vehicle.

The woman tried to get him out of the passenger side door, but the thief put the car in reverse and ran over his right leg and thigh, police say. The woman, who is 20 weeks pregnant, was taken to a hospital for soft tissue injuries to her leg.

Police say the suspect escaped with the vehicle and they are currently working to obtain video footage of the Kwik trip. The suspect is described as a man around 6 feet tall, dressed all in black and wearing a gaitor-style mask.

If anyone has information on the identity of the suspect, call the Madison Police Department.
