Police looking for a cruel teenager who threw a kitten in the Snapchat video

A California police department is investigating a video posted on social media that shows a teenager throwing a kitten across the street.

The video, which lasts less than 10 seconds, was posted on Snapchat, the Ontario Police Department (Ca.) said in a statement.

Police officers said that a 16-year-old local youth, identified on the social media platform as "Charlie," is believed to have lifted the animal with both hands before throwing it cruelly into the air.

The kitten was seen hitting the ground, clearly in shock and pain.

Although the suspect has not yet been found and arrested, the police say they located the owner of the cat.

The kitten survived the incident, but suffered a leg injury, " the agency said in a press release ." The Inland Valley Human Society is helping with the investigation and care of the wounded animal "

The owner of the cat, Perla, and her mother told NBC4 that the video is too annoying to see it.

The cat is missing they found it four months ago and they were called" Spots ".

The owner said she expects the kitten who shoots the teenager to be charged with animal abuse.

"I just want you to know that you hurt a victim who can not defend herself," she said.

Police said they are hiding the suspect's name because of his age, but neighbors say they know who he is.

"He's hanging out in the alley all the time," Óscar Ramos told CBSLA.

"They think they're great. He probably did it just to look good on video. "
