Piers Morgan may be out of Good morning Great Britain, but it is certainly not silenced.
After his more than an hour-long interview with Tucker Carlson for Fox News subscription platform Fox Nation, in which he focused on the consequences of his comments about Meghan Markle, Morgan had a lengthy exchange with David Simon, the writer and producer best known for his work on The wire.
It started when Simon commented on Morgan’s promotion of the interview on Twitter.
“In a sewage ocean of talking heads, what are the chances that the two most pouting and puckering jerks on broadcast television will ever swim through the brown, meet and discuss the events of the day?” Simon wrote.

Without letting the comment slip, Morgan replied, “Speaking of sewage, Dave… you were all over me like a flattering rash when I interviewed you. Yet now you play the vicious, horrible, illiberal liberal to appease your vile awakened base. All a bit of shit actually. But on a positive note, I loved The Wire. “
Piers Morgan, in the Tucker Carlson interview, defends rejecting the claims of Meghan Markle: “I was not allowed to have an opinion”
Simon told Morgan they met once, at a panel in Cannes with Aaron Sorkin and then-HBO director Richard Plepler.
It all went downhill from there, as Simon brought up Morgan’s role in the British phone hacking scandal, and Morgan called Simon a “disgusting human being”.
Morgan wrote: “Aaron was a class act. You…. Not that much. Probably explains why The west wing It is much better than The wire. “
Simon wrote: “Sorkin is great and has concerts. I’m still working for Time Warner after a quarter of a century. You’re unemployed and if it was a Tijuana cathouse and you had a handful of fifty you still couldn’t get laid in TW or anywhere else around here. Not after that nonsense you did on CNN. “In 2011, Morgan succeeded Larry King on CNN as the host of a late-night talk show, but the show was canceled in 2014 due to low viewership ratings.
Morgan departed Good morning Great Britain last month after she faced backlash over comments she made dismissing Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the interview with Carlson, Morgan said he was given the option of apologizing for the comments or resigning.
