MANILA, Philippines – The most active volcano in the Philippines exploded thundering and authorities warn that a dangerous eruption is possible in a matter of days.
Renato Solidum from the Philippines The Institute of Seismology and Volcanology and other officials said that Mount Mayon ejected a huge column of volcanic fragments, ash and steam into the sky around noon on Monday, covering nearby villages in the dark.
Authorities raised the alert level to four on a scale of five, which means that an explosive eruption is possible in a matter of days.
Mayon has been acting for more than a week, causing more than 27,000 villagers to flee to safety.
