Pager Is an upcoming app that sells itself as a hub for all your messaging services. Instead of managing half a dozen apps to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues, Beeper allows you to funnel everything into one interface. According to its website, the app supports 14 external messaging platforms as well as its beeper network. But the company claims that it brings iMessage to Android, Windows, or Linux devices, which can be a killer feature for anyone who is suffering through Embarrassment of green bubble.
Apple prefers to keep its in-house products for its own hardware, so this claim is a bit surprising, But Beeper says that this is a solution. On its website, It explains:
There are two ways to enable Android, Windows, and Linux users to use iMessage in Beeper: We send a jailbroken iPhone to each user with the Beeper app installed that bridges iMessage, or if they have a Mac That is always connected to the internet, then they can install the beeper mac app which acts as a bridge. This is not a joke, it actually works!
Ok, the part about using the always connected mac as a bridge is Not unprecedented, But the idea of sending JailBonk upheld iPhones to users is a bit restrictive.
Eric Migikowski, founder of Pebble Smartwatch Company and partner in Beeper, Took to twitter Insisted that the escape plan is valid and that he currently has 50 iPhone 4s ready for work.
Everyone needs a gimmick, and we’ll score beeper points for originality. But it is hard to imagine that there will be a ton of demand for this escape solution. Then, If they are not very expensive, then it is a big world and certainly a market for these old devices. But an old jailbreak iPhone is a security risk that only becomes risky over time because you cannot apply security updates without putting the unit in jail.
Here is a list of messaging services that are compatible with Beeper:
- Facebook Messenger
- Android message (SMS)
- The hint
- Beeper network
I’ll let you know some hand impressions, But the app is not out yet and for now, all you can do is To be notified When it starts.
The beeper raises many questions, the most consequential of which may be whether people are willing to pay $ 10 per month for membership fees. Everyone is up to their eye for a monthly subscription at this point, And it is not clear that if the messaging app is up to their eyeballs then there is a big pain in the ass.
