Panthers look like a Super Bowl team

After a big win against the Bucs, the Carolina Panthers 6-2 look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

This is the Carolina Panthers team we've been waiting to see since they returned to the Super Bowl in 2015.

Since that season, in which they lost in the Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos of Peyton Manning, the Panthers have essentially stumbled and stumbled over the past few years. Last year, they went 11-5 and lost in the wild card round. Last year, trying to bounce back from the Super Bowl's tough loss, Carolina only had a 6-10 record and missed the playoffs when questions started circulating around quarterback Cam Newton.

In 2018, however, the Panthers are back and they look like a team that belongs to the Super Bowl.

They are 6-2, having won five of their last six games, and simply highlighted Week 9 with a dominant 42-28 victory over their NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Newton, 29, playing in his eighth season in the NFL, was sensational once again, completing 19 of 25 pbades with two touchdowns and throwing for 247 yards.

Star runner Christian McCaffrey added a pair of touchdowns as the Panthers continued to climb the NFC South ladder. But even though they're playing great football right now, and even if they look like a Super Bowl team once again, it will be a lot easier to say than to make it to the Super Bowl.

Hell, Carolina may not even win the division, although the New Orleans Saints are just as good now, if not more so, than the Panthers.

Following: The Steelers now control the AFC North.

So the Panthers still have a lot of work to do. To get to the Super Bowl, most likely they have to go through the Saints and the Rams, two things that almost nobody has been able to do this season.

Fasten your belt, Carolina fans. Your team is in a great place at this time, and they have the opportunity to return to the Super Bowl. But the hardest part of the season is still to come.
