Pac-12 Approves 2020 Football Schedule and Fall Sports Plan

Way to return to competition to follow the guidelines of the Pac-12 Medical Advisory Committee designed to prioritize health and safety and provide maximum flexibility

San francisco – The Pac-12 CEO Group has today approved the 2020 conference-only fall schedule for football, with a 10-game slate designed to provide maximum flexibility and many features. Additionally, the CEO group approved the competition start dates and set out-of-season practice policies for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s cross country. Practice policies and competition in all cases are subject to the approval and medical advice of public health officials.

Return-to-competition plans for each of these games were determined after extensive consultation with the Medical Advisory Committee of the Pac-12. The health and safety of our student-athletes and those involved with the Pac-12 Games is our number one priority, and if the health situation changes, we are ready to adjust the plans. In addition, the conference previously announced that Pac-12 student-athletes who do not wish to participate in intercollegiate athletics during the upcoming academic year will continue to receive scholarships awarded by their university due to safety concerns about COVID-19 and good Rhega is standing with his team.

Following the Pac-12 CEO group’s decision to move to the conference-only football schedule on July 10, the Pac-12 today maximized the 10-game conference-only schedule (available below as well as Structured for Flexibility includes the following features:

  • The season begins September 26 (week 4 in general), with the flexibility if necessary to start at a later date if the situation warrants;
  • Each team will play five home and five road games;
  • Games that cannot be played on their scheduled date can be played in their sub-week or week 12 (December 12), featuring the Pac-12 Football Championship game, 76®, now on December 18 or 19 Was slated for; And

The later start of the season will allow for extra time for student-athletes to appropriately and safely prepare for the season, with the CEO group beginning 20 August of summer-mandated summer activities beginning after the start of August 3. In addition to the above-mentioned schedule criteria, the Pac-12 has also updated its tie-breaking procedures to determine division champions and football championship game participants according to the 2020 schedule. Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country

The Pac-12 CEO group also approved conference-only scheduling plans for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s cross country, a competition not to begin before the weekend of September 26. The first permitted practice dates for these conference-sponsored games will be on August 15. In all cases the conference-only schedule will be developed to support health and safety, and maximum flexibility.
