One sequel coming in 2021

Most survival games have an element of horror, which gives us an inhuman appetite that will kill us if we don’t eat a three-course meal every five minutes. I like jokes One gets tough on horror, cannibals and mutants stagger us, and the sequel to the story-driven survival game just looks surprisingly awful. The developers, Andenite Games, have announced that they plan to release Sons of the Forest in 2021, and have shared a new trailer showing what awaits us in the trees. I don’t like what I like.

Some things:

  1. Is this a friendly mutant? (I am half inclined to guess a hallucination, just corps horror tropes.)
  2. I love animations and effects for crafting and building. The part of the log for a window that is knocking is undead cunning.
  3. I’m glad the villains still have a slow, cautious, deliberate pace. The circle creeps so much compared to charging.
  4. Also great: Fella trying to steal one of our logs. They are trying to survive here too. Bella, afraid of dying, is just horrified.
  5. But oh man, I don’t like much that seems to tease us as uh, one of them with a mask. There will be absolute fear that they will see through disguise at the most inconvenient times.

Forrest first made its initial entry in 2014, finally launching in full in 2018. Our former John (RPS in Peace) called it “a great achievement, and a survival horror game, which somehow manages to keep those two elements surprisingly apart and still let each go in very interesting ways.” Imposing on another “in his forest review. It was still a bit crude, but was put on Andonight patching to include VR support. Over the years, we still say that this is one of the best survival games. Oh hey, it’s at half the price in the Steam Winter Sale.
