MIAMI – Ohio State started defensive fixture Tommy Toggia, defensive end Tyreke Smith and kicker Blake Hubill will miss the College Football Playoff National Championship against Alabama on Monday night.
In total, 13 players were listed on the team’s unavailability report, including two other defensive linemen. Backup kicker Dominic DiMacico is also unavailable.
Alabama receiver Jaylen Wadle has a chance to play for the first time since he broke his right ankle on October 24 against Tennessee. Wadle participated in the pregame warm-up.
Coach Nick Saban told ESPN’s Allison Williams that if Waddall plays, it will be on a limited basis.
Saban said, “This decision is going to be up to him.”
In a message posted on Instagram, Haubeil stated that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is asymptomatic but is extremely nervous to miss the game.
