NVIDIA A100 Ampere Benchmarked, Now ‘Fastest GPU Ever Recorded’

NVIDIA Announces Launch of its Ampere GPU Architecture Ampere A100 Accelerator Earlier this year, the company’s first 7nm GPU – and also its first PCIe 4.0 card. But what good is it if the next generation GPU is not yet benchmarked?

This is where Jules Urbach, CEO of OTOY, a cloud graphics company known for octo render software, has benchmarked NVIDIA’s new A100 accelerator. The new Ampere-based NVIDIA A100 accelerator was benchmarked on OctaneBench – a benchmark designed to test performance in OctaneRender.

OTOY benchmarked the GA100-based card, which has 6912 CUDA cores and 40GB super fast HBM2 memory.

Ampere is about 43% faster than Turing in OctaneRender, and is closed with RTX. It would be impressive to see how Tensor and RT course cranks on their Turing Breitrain versus ampere silicon in general.

  • Traversal coprocessor: We have more leaks than any family of graphics cards on NVIDIA’s next-generation GeForce RTX 3000 series, with an interesting “traversal coprocessor” on the new GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards. You can do this Read more on that here.
  • NVCache: Ampere means something called NVCache, which would be a variant of NVIDIA of AMD’s HBCC (High Bandwidth Exporter Controller). More on that here). NVCache will use your system RAM and SSD to optimize super-speed game load time as well as VRAM usage. You can do this Read more on NVCache here.
  • Tensor memory compression: NVCache is interesting, but Tensor Memory Compression will be on Ampere, and reportedly Tensor Cores will be used for both accumulated and decompressed items in VRAM. This could result in a 20–40% reduction in VRAM usage, or higher usage of VRAM with higher textures in next-gen games and tenser memory compression reduced by 20–40%.
  • How fast is GeForce RTX 3090The Rumoredly fast, 60-90% more performance than the current Turing-based flagship GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. We can see this huge performance jump in ray tracing titles, but we’ll have to wait a bit to see the graphical power NVIDIA crams in these new cards. You can do this Read more on those rumors here.
  • Power hungryFor power consumption, the GA102 reportedly uses 230W – while the 24GB GDDR6X (which we should see on the new Ampere-based Titan RTX) consumes 60W of power. You can do this Read more on that here.
  • Production starts soon: NVIDIA is reportedly in the DVT (or design verification test) category of its new GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards. Mass production closes in August 2020 with media events, benchmarks and More in September 2020 as I predicted many months ago. More on that here.

I have already written about the rumors that NVIDIA’s Next-Gene Ampere GPU Architecture Will Be 75% Faster Than Current-Gene GPUs Such as the Turing architecture, right after that It is rumored that Ampere will offer 50% more performance at half the power of Turing. This is very crazy stuff.

Not only that, but we’ve got something Rumors have erupted over the alleged GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards, Both of which will be powered by NVIDIA’s new Ampere GPU architecture.

We have already heard Ampere will offer 50% more performance at half the power of Turing, Who put hair on my neck. Better yet, you can read about the specs leaked at Here the Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 are kept.
