Numerous local stores of Papa Gino closed without prior notice.

PROVINCE OF THE EAST, R.I. (WPRI) – We have learned that the popular chain of pizzas and sandwiches based in Mbadachusetts, Papa Gino & # 39; s Inc., has abruptly closed many of its locations.

Eyewitness News called and visited several locations of Papa Gino and D & # 39; Angelo in our area following the reports of employees and customers who found them closed on Sunday morning.

When you get to Pope Gino's on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston, there is a sign that is now pasted and says: This location is now closed. Thanks for your patronage. & # 39;

We found a similar scene at the D & # 39; angelo on Highland Avenue in Seekonk.

When calling the closed places, we repeatedly greeted the messages, "Thank you for calling Papa Gino, this restaurant is now permanently closed" and "Thank you for calling D & # 39; Angelo, this restaurant is now permanently closed".

Both messages encourage customers to go to the pizzeria and the sandwich shop website to see a list of all locations.

Despite multiple attempts by telephone and email to contact the corporate offices, we have not heard anything about these company closures.

The Papa Gino website has been updated to reflect only the open locations in your list. If you do not see your favorite location in the list, it has been closed.

There is no information on how many employees are affected by the closures on Sunday, or if the company is working to place them in other stores.

Eyewitness News will continue to provide you with online and on-air updates on this developing story.
