Håkon Kornstad, Frode Haltli, Mats Eilertsen, Ditte Marie Bræin, Wolfgang Plagge and Grex Vocalis

It becomes a color-playing program with music of various genres woven together during Munch's sun when Grex Vocalis meets some of the country's most critically acclaimed jazz musicians; Håkon Kornstad and his ensemble Kornstad Trio with Frode Haltli on accordion, Mats Eilertsen on double bass and Håkon Kornstad on saxophone, flute and vocal. The choir has also invited Wolfgang Plagge, one of the country's most famous classical pianists, to perform Brahms "Drei Quartette" opus 31 for choir and piano, and the soprano Ditte Marie Bræin is soloist on "Only in Sleep" by the Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds.

There will be music by Geirr Tveitt / Håkon Berge, Andrew Smith, Håkon Kornstad, Cyrillus Kreek, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Pietro Mascagni, Giacomo Puccini and Johannes Brahms.

Kornstad Trio will have a separate department during the concert. Saxophonist and singer Håkon Kornstad play together with two of the finest and most versatile improvisational musicians on the European music scene today: Frode Haltli on accordion and Mats Eilertsen on double bass.

The repertoire consists of classical songs and opera arias added improvisation and strong interaction. However, this trio has an openness and presence that makes it stand out from the rest of Kornstad's projects. The music is in constant motion, and each concert is full of freedom, warm about improvisation. No concert will be the same.

Håkon Kornstad, in addition to his jazz career, has graduated into opera songs and has been on the role list for the Norwegian Opera. In 2017/18 he collaborated with KORK, and will collaborate with the WDR Orchestra in Cologne, Oslofilharmonien (chamber series) and Ensemble Allegria. Since we first bring an eminent opera singer, Håkon Kornstad will have a small opera department at the concert where Grex Vocalis for the occasion is the operacore.

Welcome to a musical encounter in the thrill of jazz, opera, contemporary and high convertance. Evening conductors are Carl Høgset and Mick Aspen Melby. A beautifully adventurous adventure takes place in Aulaen in April – Welcome to the concert "Til Foraaret" April 8 at 19.30.
