Someone forgot to tell Gardner Minshaw that the Jaguars were tanking for Trevor Lawrence.
The second-year quarterback, some of whom thought the future franchise quarterback was just a placeholder for the Jaguars’ draft in 2021, turned in an excellent effort to defeat the Cults today.
With three yards and no interceptions, Minju completed 19 of 20 passes for 173 yards as the Jaguars beat the Colts 27-20.
Colts quarterback Phillip River threw the ball too much in his debut with the team, completing 36 of 46 passes for 363 yards, but he threw two picks. The rookie looked good in the passing game, overtaking Jonathan Taylor, catching all six catches thrown to him for 67 yards. The Colts need more than Taylor, as running back Marlon Mack suffered an Achilles injury.
It may be revealed that the Jaguars have an ugly season ahead of them. But they are definitely not tanked. They are playing to win, and Minswa gave.
