Nintendo Life eShop Picks – March 2021 – Feature

Last month we celebrated the fourth anniversary of Switch on the market. It’s a nice little milestone, but even though it’s been in the hands of consumers for so long, the console’s approach to eShop discoverability still has a long way to go.

These awards aim to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store, giving a little love and attention to games that could so easily get lost in Switch’s ever-growing library.

Then let’s get started. Here are the best Switch eShop games of March 2021!

Honorable mentions:

While these titles didn’t make the top three this month, they’re certainly worth checking out:

Tales from the Borderlands (Switch eShop)Tales from the Borderlands (Switch eShop)

Editor: Take-Two Interactive / Developer: Take-Two Interactive

Release date: March 23, 2021 (USA) / March 24, 2021 (UK / EU)

Third place this month is Tales from the Borderlands, a game we consider one of Telltale Games’ best efforts.

Switch owners have several choice-driven narrative adventures to choose from these days, but this is one of the best. In our full review (the game scored a strong 9/10 from us) we described it as “ten glorious hours of top-notch entertainment, excellent and consistent writing, non-stop twisted action, and an eccentric cast of characters who are es a pleasure spending time with them. “

Do yourself a favor and check this out if you have any interest. This might well be the best the Borderlands universe has ever been.

Narita Boy (Switch eShop)Narita Boy (Switch eShop)

Editor: Team17 / Developer: Koba Study

Release date: March 30, 2021 (USA)

However, Narita Boy is narrowly ahead of Tales of the Borderlands this month. A wonderful Metroidvania published by Team17, Narita Boy pays homage to the culture of the 80s and more importantly, it does well.

In our review, we praised the game’s beautiful handcrafted visuals, exceptional combat mechanics, varied enemy layouts, and great music, all in one package that is definitely worth your time. If you’re looking for your next taste of Metroidvania action, this is it.

Everhood (Switch eShop)Everhood (Switch eShop)

Editor: Foreign gnomes / Developer: Foreign gnomes

Release date: March 4, 2021 (USA) / 2021 (UK / EU)

First place this month (the votes were the closest they have been for some time), is Everhood.

Everhood is a crazy mix of RPG, rhythmic action, go-kart racing, and shmup-style gameplay from bullet hell, and if that doesn’t leave you at least a little intrigued, we don’t know what will. We describe Everhood as “one of the most memorable games we’ve played in the last few years,” with its crazy plot and characters, but an instantly accessible game that makes for a great game.

This is the type of game that best suits anyone looking for something different which, let’s face it, is exactly what the indie scene is all about. Try it, you won’t regret it!

How we decide our eShop selects the first three: As we reach the end of each month, the Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop title in that particular month, and they must have been reviewed in Nintendo Life; We select the ranking games based on their review scores.

Staff are then asked to vote for three games that they think deserve to be at the top of that list; the first option gets 3 points, the second option gets 2 points and the third option gets 1 point. These votes are then counted to create a top three list, with the overall winner taking the top prize for that month.
