Following a retro in 2016, the OG “Sweetwater” colorway of the Nike Air Griffe Max 1 is due to return in celebration of the model’s 25th anniversary next year.
Known in 1996 by “The Kid” Ken Griffey Jr., the Air Griffe Max 1 was a daily cross-trainer-style version of which he wore on diamonds. Featuring a wavy black nubuck upper with a white leather base, the shoe features a booty construction and a secure Nike branded strap wrap across the ankle. Tying the pair back to Griffe’s Seattle Mariners threads hits the shoe’s signature “Sweet Water” aqua that is red.
Recently, the OG “Emerald” colorway of the Air Griff Max 1 inspired a new Nike SB Dunk Mid.
So far, no exact date has been revealed for the pair, but the arrival of official Nike product images suggests that it may be dropping sooner rather than later. The “Sweetwater” Nike Air Griffe Max 1 is expected to be released sometime in early 2021.
Update (01/09): Official images of the “Freshwater” Nike Air Griffe Max 1 Retro have surfaced and according to DTLR’s release calendar, the pair is set to return on February 15 for $ 170.
