Together, they created a blueprint for the American television sitcom, and went on to be one of TV’s classiest couples.

And Oscar-winning actors Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are currently in talks with writer-director Aaron Sorkin to portray Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz respectively in a new film for Amazon.

As Deadline reported on Monday, film stars are being sent off for Sorkin’s Being the Ricardo, a slice-of-life look at the iconic duo behind the 1950s revolutionary series I Love Lucy.

TV’s first duet: Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are currently in talks to portray Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz (pictured) in a new film by writer-director Aaron Sorkin.

The film is said to follow the star duo – who played the showbiz duo Lucy and Ricky Ricardo for six seasons from 1951 to 1957 – during a theatrical week of production on the Emmy-winning show, off the Monday table Studio filming until Friday read live.

Over the course of the film, the couple face several crises that could end their careers as well as their marriage.

Lucy and Desi had been married for 20 years from 1940 to 1960, and had two children: Lucy Arnaz, 69 and Desi Arnaz Jr., 67.

I Love Lucy remains the gold standard to this day when it comes to winning television comedy, thanks mainly to Ball’s incredible comic timing and the star’s pairing of odd-couple chemistry.
