The emerging 49ers have largely come out of the race for the second election, but the Colts have gotten into the mix with a faint at the end of the season. Indianapolis has three victories, so it is currently a full game of the Giants. The Colts also have a Week 17 matchup with the Texans that could change things. Houston is also in search of a top-3 selection, but their selection goes to Cleveland, so there's no real suspense for them.
No matter who the Giants general manager is in April, whether interim Kevin Abrams or another employee, he will have the highest selection the Giants have had in more than a decade to work. How high? That remains to be seen. Here we take a closer look at the team that competes with the Giants to reach the top of the draft with two weeks ahead. Only the teams that can finish with the same record of wins and losses when the Giants are profiled. The current intensity of the schedule numbers is courtesy of Tankathon:
Current Order of the NFL Draft 2018 (top 10 only):
If the season ends today …
4-Browns (via Texans)
All tiebreaks are broken by the strength of the schedule. If two (or more) teams end up with the same record, the team that played the weakest calendar receives the best selection. If the teams finished tied in the strength of the schedule, they throw a coin.

1-Cleveland Browns (0-14):
Strength of the calendar : .513.
Remaining Games : in Bears (4-10), in Steelers (11-3).
From the note : it is very simple. If the Browns lose one more game, they get the No. 1 pick. They can even avoid going 0-16 and pick up the No. 1 pick. A rare win-win for Cleveland. Until the Browns win a game, no one should entertain how the Giants can get the best selection.

2-New York Giants (2-12):
Strength of the schedule : .529.
Remaining Games : in Cardinals (6-8), against Redskins (6-8).
Of note : The Giants are playing hard for interim coach Steve Spagnuolo, which can be the biggest part of the battle at this point. But they are likely to lack the firepower to win again this year, especially with two remaining opponents who at least have the motivation of a .500 finish to lift them. The margin of error of the Giants is so small at this point, and it is in the best interest of the franchise to secure a selection of the first two. That said, nothing has gone well for the Giants this year, so why would I start now? ?
