Three sources have approached Kotaku and are reporting that the development of an open world Star Wars game has stopped. The anonymous game was announced at the same time as the Star Wars game now canceled at Visceral Studios. EA Vancouver was working on the game since October 2017. After the Star Wars game of Visceral was canceled, it was thought that its assets were transferred to Vancouver, although it is unclear if the two projects merged.
EA did not show any of the open-world games of EA Vancouver Star Wars publicly, but the editor talked about it when he announced the disappearance of Visceral. "It has become clear that to provide an experience that players will want to return and enjoy for a long time, we needed to pivot the design," the company said at the time. "A development team from EA Worldwide Studios will take over the development of this game, led by an EA Vancouver team that has already been working on the project."
At this point, it is still unknown what projects EA Vancouver is working on. especially in light of the supposed cancellation today.
