While most iPad Air tablets look like the plus-size version of entry-level iPads, the new iPad Air 4 looks like the ‘light’ version of iPad Pro models. It has some impressive specs, and can win over many creatives and professionals.
It is a follow-up to the iPad Air 3, hence why some are calling it the iPad Air 4, although Apple is referring to it only as ‘iPad Air (2020)’. Nevertheless, as this is the fourth generation model, we are going to call it iPad Air 4 to avoid confusion.

iPad Air design and performance
The iPad Air has a flat edge, an all-screen display, single rear camera, and some subtle edge buttons – it looks like the iPad Pro, a change from previous iPad Airs, which looks like larger versions of the entry – Bell slate with large bezels and physical front buttons.
The screen uses Apple liquid retina display technology, a fancy form of LCD. Its resolution is 2360 x 1640 and is 10.9 inches, which is not as large as the iPad Pro model, as the smallest size of this slate is 11 inches. There are a lot of features to improve visuals, such as Apple’s True Tone Display Tech, which finely displays the display based on the environment you’re in.
The iPad Air 4 is the first Apple tablet to feature a fingerprint sensor with a button on the side, a tricky move from Apple. Other slates of the company have a fingerprint sensor built into the home button on the front, but we haven’t seen side-mounted scanners before Apple.
There is a USB-C port in the form of the iPad-Pro model, which should charge and send data very fast, and it will be welcomed by professionals who want to plug an external monitor or hard drive into the tablet.
The iPad Air 4 works with the Magic Keyboard and the second generation Apple Pencil – making it the first tablet outside the Apple Pro range to use this new stylus. It attaches magnetically to the top of the storage for storage and charging.
iPad Air Specs and Features
The chipset inside the iPad Air 4 is the A14 Bionic, which we are expecting to see in the iPhone 12. This is the first 5nm chipset in the Apple mobile tablet, and it looks like it will make the new Air Apple the fastest tablet. So far excluded – we’ll run some benchmark tests as soon as we get the slate in our labs to see what’s the matter.
Apple says the tablet’s graphics performance is “30% faster”, although it hasn’t said what it compares to. It claims that the iPad Air 4 is twice your average HP laptop.
Apple rarely announces the battery capacity of its devices at launch – we would expect to find out that when the iPad Air is available to buy, people will inevitably take it apart to look inside.
Finally there is a 7MP f / 2.2 front-facing camera and 12MP f / 1.8 rear camera, which should suffice for video calls and other forms of communication.
