New Hyrule Warriors Announce Prequel: Breast of the Wild for Zelda

Nintendo is releasing a new Legend of Zelda spin-off on Switch this November. Titled Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the game is another dynastic warrior-style Zelda adventure developed by Koei Tecmo, and serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Set 100 years before the events of the Switch launch title, Age of Calamity Chronicle the Great Calamity that devastated Heural. Like previous Hyrule Warriors, the game will have multiple playable characters, each with a different play style. Players will be able to take control of Link, Zelda and Hyrule’s four champions – Mipa, Revley, Daruk and Urbosa – and use their unique skills to cut through hordes of Gonon’s minions. With the above mentioned characters, a small guardian can be seen among the heroes in the game’s official key art, suggesting that it may also be playable.

In addition to over-the-top battles, Age of Calamity includes traditional Zelda elements such as puzzles. Players will need to use Sheikah Slate and other skills to overcome these and other environmental obstacles. Nintendo also says that the game is “a strong story that reflects in detail the events, relationships, and dramatic moments of great oblivion.”

According to Yosuke Hayashi of Koi Takamo who served as the creator of Age of Calamity, the game was co-produced with Nintendo. “Unlike previous Hyrule Warriors games, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was developed by working closely with the Zelda team at every stage of the process, including gameplay direction, graphics, worlds, and all dialogue,” Hayashi explained.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is not the breath of a wild sequel announced back in June 2019. Development on that game is still progressing, with series creator Eiji Aonuma confirmed in a video message, though he said fans would “have to wait” a little longer for news about it “.

“We mentioned in a June 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation that we began development on the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” said Anuma. “A lot of people around the world are still playing Brest of the Wild, so I want to thank all of you for your heart’s talk. About the sequel, so that you can enjoy the vast world you enjoy. Also able to find in the original game. More impressive, the team is working hard on their development, so you’ll have to wait a bit before you can provide more updates. ”

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launched exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on November 20. Pre-orders for the game are now live on the Nintendo Switch eShop and other retailers. Those who pre-order the game will receive a free bonus weapon digitally: Lucky Ladley. Nintendo is re-releasing Age of Breath as well as Wild Champions Amoeba on 20 November.
