Corvette ZR1 presented at LA Auto Show with Brembo carbon brakes

Brembo, the world leader and recognized innovator of brake technology, is the stop partner for the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 2019 that made its debut in North America at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week.

This exclusive Brembo carbon ceramic brake system was developed to match the improved performance of the new ZR1.

Although the size of the fixed aluminum calipers has not changed since the Z07, the brake rotors and friction materials have been improved to provide an additional tracking capability that matches the increased performance of the vehicle. The ceramic and carbon front rotor is manufactured with a special heat treatment to improve its resistance to the highest thermal load and to increase heat dissipation in the most demanding track conditions.

The front and rear brake pads are manufactured with new formulations developed under the guidelines of the Brembo R & D Center for the purpose of providing greater braking power and better wear of the pads under more demanding and challenging braking conditions .

"We are very excited about the Corvette ZR1 2019," said Dan Sandberg, president and CEO of Brembo North America. "When you have 755 horsepower on a proven track tram, there are a lot of demands on the braking system, it has to run on a track day at Sebring, as well as provide quiet stopping power driving down Main Street."

The Brembo ZR1 system consists of 6-piston front monobloc calipers with carbon ceramic disc of 394 mm x 36 mm and 4-piston rear monobloc calipers with 390 mm x 32 mm two-piece discs that are also carbon -ceramics.

Chevrolet debuted a new orange color gauge on the ZR1, which now offers consumers a choice of six different clamp colors (black, red, yellow, gray, blue and orange) when ordering their new ZR1.

Brembo brakes are also featured on the Corvette Z06, Corvette Grand Sport and Corvette Stingray.
