And so it begins. Or continues, really.

Scott Frost is currently coaching his unbeaten and 14th-ranked Central Florida Knights in the AAC championship game against Memphis, with UCF locking up the Group of Five's New Year's Six berth with a win. It's been widely thought, however, that Frost will, shortly after that game ends, be announced as the new head coach at Nebraska.

In the midst of that game, yet another report, this one pertaining to NU athletic director ] Bill Moos surfaced that points towards Frost coming home

Frost was born in the state of Nebraska and played his college football for the Cornhuskers. He is in his second season as head coach at UCF

Defense has been mostly optional in the first half of the American Athletic Conference this afternoon in Orlando. With the two best offenses in the conference going head-to-head, that was to be expected between UCF and Memphis, but it is the Memphis defense that has made the key plays in the first half. Memphis leads UCF 31-24 at the half after 30 minutes of back-and-forth scoring.

UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton was cruising with three touchdowns as UCF was looking like a well-oiled machine on offense , but a pair of interceptions in the net zone prevented UCF from tacking on more points in the first half, and Memphis took advantage of those turnovers. The Tigers took the lead and padded it just before halftime with 10 points off the turnovers. Memphis has scored 17 points off UCF's three turnovers, while the Tigers have given up one touchdown off to turnover.

Milton has pbaded for 306 yards with three touchdowns and the two interceptions. Memphis quarterback Riley Ferguson has completed 12 of 13 pbades for 246 yards and two touchdowns without a turnover. Anthony Miller has been on the receiving end of four of those pbades with 92 yards and a touchdown. At the half, UCF and Memphis have combined for 865 yards of offense and 32 first downs.

The stakes in this game are well known at this point. The winner of this game will be the highest-ranked conference champion from a Group of Five conference, which will be rewarded with a guaranteed spot in the New Years Six bowl line-up. The Peach Bowl in Atlanta appears to be the most likely destination, with an opponent to be chosen at the large bids available from the College Football Playoff selection committee on Sunday.

'Tis the season for personnel attrition, both transfers and those deciding to leave eligibility on the table.

The latest in the latter category is Isaiah Oliver who announced via Twitter Friday night that he has decided to forego his senior season at Colorado in order to make himself available for the 2018 NFL draft. The cornerback stated he came to his decision after meeting with CU coaches and his family

The Denver Post said that mock drafts from CBS Sports, USA Today, Pro Football Focus, Bleacher Report and ESPN all project Oliver as a first-round selection.

After starting two games in 2016, Oliver started 10 games this season. Despite missing two games because of injury, the 6-1, 195-pound defensive back led the Buffaloes with 11 pbad breakups. He also tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

In what could be an epic night for the Wisconsin football program as a whole, it could be a historic one for one Badger in particular as well.

At 8: 00 pm ET Saturday, fourth-ranked UW is set to face seventh-ranked Ohio State in Indianapolis in the Big Ten championship, with the winner – especially UW – potentially punching its ticket to the College Football Playoffs. In order to knock off the favored Buckeyes, the Badgers will, as usual, rely on a heavy dose of Jonathan Taylor .

Taylor's 1,806 yards rushing this season are tops in the conference and third nationally. If Taylor runs for 120 yards or more against an OSU defense that's 13th in the country against the rush (112.8 yards per game), he will break a record that's stood for over a decade.

In 2004, Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson ran for 1,925 yards. That set the FBS record for most single-season rushing yards by a freshman.

Peterson set his record in 13 games; Taylor will be playing in his 13th game later on tonight. One big difference? It took Peterson 339 carries (5.7 yards per carry), while Taylor has gotten his numbers in just 258 attempts as he has thus far averaged exactly seven yards to run.

Both running backs were / are true freshmen. Peterson, however, was a consensus five-star recruit who was the top recruit in the Clbad of 2004 while Taylor was a three-star member of UW's most recent clbad.

We already knew Week 14 was a loaded one. Now, we know it's a historic one as well.

Championship Saturday will feature four games in which both teams are ranked in the Top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25. According to ESPN Stats & Info this marks the first time since Thanksgiving weekend in 1973 that such a feat has happened.

In fact, 1973 and 2017 are the only two times that ever happened in college football history.

Could this be the best championship weekend ever?

There are four matchups between Top-10 teams in the AP Poll, tied for the most in a single week in AP Poll history (Thanksgiving weekend 1973).

Add that gloriously bloated buffet to last night's full-course matchup of No. 10 vs. USC. No. 12 Stanford in https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/01/no-10-usc-fights-off-no-12-stanford-to-capture-first-pac-12-title-since -2008 / the Pac-12 championship game and the appetizer that's No. 14 UCF vs. No. 20 Memphis for the AAC championship later on today, and Week 14 serves as a veritable feast for college football fans for what's the final weekend of the 2017 regular season.
