The NBA trade deadline of February 7 is fast approaching, so why not participate in some rumors?
On Saturday, Ken Berger of Bleacher Report published a piece about possible commercial destinations for the Washington Wizards' guard, Bradley Beal, which is expected to be available. Many teams are expected to participate with the 25-year-old, but let's focus on one club in particular: the Boston Celtics.
Berger believes that an agreement would make sense, and here's why:
"With the Celtics struggling to find an identity, and the roles defined for their large number of wing players, there could be a path to an agreement," he wrote. "Jaylen Brown, the expired contract of Marcus Morris or Aron Baynes (player option 2019-20) and a first-round selection would have the ingredients of a compelling offer, according to one executive.
"The Cs could win the East with a core of Kyrie Irving, Beal, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford, if the Wizards would want to help Boston it's another story."
Now that is a juicy commercial speculation.
It is hard to imagine that the C's offer such a big package for Beal, despite the obvious talents of the Florida product. Also, Celtics basketball operations president Danny Ainge probably has his eyes on an even bigger prize.
Beal is averaging 24.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 badists in 45 games this season. He has two years and $ 56 million left in his current contract.
