The huge metallic asteroid that is 252 km in diameter and experts estimate that it is worth up to £ 8,000 quadrillion (£ 8,000,000,000,000,000,000) due to the wealth of rare minerals in it, such as platinum.
The asteroid is known as 16 psi and is three times farther from the Earth than the sun is.
NASA is preparing to launch its probe in the year 2022 with the goal of reaching the giant metal knot floating in space in 2026.
The space agency is sending the probe to the asteroid in order to study the origins of our solar system, as space rocks are often the leftover remains of planetary formations.
16 psyche is so amazingly rich in minerals such as platinum and iron, with what experts say that only a small piece of back to Earth would cause the world economy to collapse by immediately devaluing precious metals.
Elkins-Tanton Lindy, the principal scientist of the NASA mission and the director of the Arizona State University School of Earth and Space Exploration, said: "Even if we could grab a large piece of metal and drag it back here … what would you do?
"Could you sit down and hide it and control the global resource? of similar diamonds are controlled corporately, and protect your market?
"What would happen if I decided to bring it back and just solve the problems of metal resources of humanity forever?"
Many asteroids are rich in platinum ore, which is increasingly scarce here on Earth.
Platinum is extremely valuable and costs around $ 1 million (£ 686,982) per 1000 cubic centimeters.
To put that in perspective, an asteroid that spent last year that Earth had a 3.7trillion value of £ platinum.
