The mythical spot of Moulay Bouzerktoune (province of Essaouira) will host from March 27 to April 7, the Windsurf World Cup PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association), a preview in Africa and Morocco.  Initiated under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, by the Moulay Bouzerktoune Association of Development and Water Sports, and the Essaouira Mogador Association, this sporting competition benefits from the assistance of, among others, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of tourism, and OCP, MASEN and the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sailing (FRMV).
This competition which promises to live great moments of glide and solidarity, will thus welcome a triple competition to know: the Cup of the Women's Windsurfing World – Wave Category (PWA), Men's World Cup Qualification – Wave Category (PWA), and then the 1st leg of the International Windsurf Championship (IWT).  This world sports event will see the participation of some 100 riders coming from several countries including, Morocco, the United States, Australia, France, Sweden, Japan, Germany, Canada , Italy, and Norway, annually rank the best athletes in the world on stages from Tenerife (Gran Canaria, Spain), through Sylt (Germany) to Maui (Hawaii, USA). United States).
The organization of this event for the first time on African soil is of crucial importance, in that it will allow Morocco to shine on the international scene concerning this sport, and to encourage young people to fully devote himself to this sport, Mr. Boujmaa Guilloul, founder and organizer of the event, told MAP.
And to continue that this sport makes it possible to get closer to nature and to discover new sensations because, depending on the wind, waves and of the sensation of the oceans, noting that the objective is to promote this niche of sports tourism, knowing that Morocco has many assets in this area, including some 3500 km of coastline.
On the sidelines of this competition, several other activities are planned, including social, cultural and environmental actions, among others, windsurfing lessons, dedicated to young orphans of Orphanages, as well as Surf Paddle, surfing and windsurfing lessons for women.
On the menu are also a wind energy awareness day, as well as cleaning days at the beaches of Essaouira-Moulay Bouzerktoune.
As a reminder, Boujmaa Guilloul holds the world record for the highest jump in the history of Windsurf, 20m tall in 2012, and he is the only Moroccan and African windsurfer to win the International Windsurf Tour (IWT) in 2016 and was vice-champion in 2017.
This native of Es saouira is, moreover, an actor committed to the democratization of windsurfing in Morocco and a fervent supporter of the protection of the environment. He also advocates for the social, cultural and economic development of his region.
