(KPRC) – A Texas woman accosted a suspect accused of spying through her daughter’s window.
The rig was captured on the police dash cam.
Phyllis Pena said the man was trying to look out the window of his 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom early on a Sunday morning.
“My children are my life and I make sure to protect them, practically,” he said.
Lake Jackson Police Sgt. Roy Welch gave him some credit.
“It was a pretty good tackle,” he said.
Welch said the suspect is Zane Hawkins, 19. Police found Hawkins nearby, but he tried to escape.
They said that he started running towards Peña, who approached and made the entrance.
His daughter helped hold the suspect until officers caught up with him.
“It’s not very often that we have someone actually step in, put themselves in danger to help stop someone,” Welch said.
Peña said he only wanted to protect his children.
“The cop hit me with his fist and said, ‘Hey, I heard the Texans are looking for a new linebacker,'” Peña said.
Hawkins was booked into jail.
You face charges of possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possibly more.
