For the first time in 2020, fans will be allowed to participate in the Major League Baseball games that this postseason later received. MLB announced on Wednesday that a limited number of tickets for the NLCS and World Series games will be available at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Commissioner Rob Manfred recently stated that MLB was pressing “forward” with plans for fans in the stands at the NLCS and World Series. Texas is currently in Phase 3 of its reopening plan, which allows open-air stadiums to accept up to 50 percent capacity. The Globe Field Field has 40,300 seats and a retractable roof. It is unclear whether the roof will be open for the postson game.

MLB says it has “received appropriate approval” to host fans, which will be sitting in socially perverted four-man “pods” throughout the ballpark. Around 11,500 tickets will be made available, with 950 fans scattered across the suites and the rest scattered throughout the stand. Here are more MLB security protocols:

  • Tickets at the Seating Bowl will be sold in a group of four contiguous seats, called pods. Individuals can purchase one pod limit per NLCS and World Series game.
  • Seats within each pod cannot be broken for sale.
  • Each pod will be at least six feet from each other.
  • No seats will be sold within 20 feet of where the player is on the field, in the dugout or bullpen.
  • The mask will be mandatory for all fans, except when they are actively eating or drinking on their ticketed seats.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the ballpark.
  • Bags that are not allowed for medical reasons or for diaper bags manufactured with infants and young children will be allowed.

Team employees and their families as well as players’ families have also been allowed to sit in the stands during the Wild Card Series this week. ALDS and ALCS will be played at Petco Park and Dodger Stadium, although no fans will be allowed to attend. The NLDS Globe will be played at Life Field and Minute Med Park. The entire NLCS will be played at the Globe Life Field.

Allowing fans to participate in NLCS and World Series games would give MLB another Postson revenue stream, however, a maximum of 14 games would be played and around 160,000 tickets sold. This is not much, but it is nothing after the league finance has been hurt by the epidemic and subsequent shutdown.

NLCS, Mon. Starts from October 12 and runs from Sun., October 18. There will be no off-day in the series, so it is a possible seven games in seven days. World Series debut x. Will be from October 20 and run through Weds. 28 October. The days following Game 2 and Game 5 will be closed.
