Microsoft releases a new Windows 10 preview to correct reliability issues, including BSOD restarts

Microsoft today released a new preview of Windows 10 for PC with corrections to "reliability problems". This compilation is from the RS4 branch, which represents the next Windows 10 update that the company has not yet announced (but is expected to deliver this month). There is no new version of the RS5 branch today.

Windows 10 is a service, which means that it was built in a very different way from its predecessors, so it can be updated periodically not only with fixes, but also with new features. Microsoft has so far released four major updates: November Update, Anniversary Update, Creator Update and Fall Creator Update.

Today's update exceeds the Windows 10 compilation number for the RS4 branch of 17133 (available to evaluators on March 27) compilation 17134. Rumors suggested that 17133 was the final version of RS4 and other rumors still called to this release the Spring Creators Update. The first one turned out not to be the case and we are still waiting for the last one. In terms of the first, Microsoft encountered problems with compilation 17133 and issued compilation 17134 to address them:

This compilation has no new features and includes the corrections of KB4100375, as well as some fixes for the overall reliability of the operating system. As the compilation 17133 progressed through the rings, we discovered some reliability problems that we wanted to solve. In certain cases, these reliability problems could have led to a higher percentage of (BSOD) in computers, for example. Instead of creating a Cumulative Update package to solve these problems, we decided to create a new compilation with the included fixes.

KB1400375 includes the following changes:

  • Fixes a PDF security problem in Microsoft Edge.
  • Addresses a problem that, in some cases, prevents Internet Explorer from identifying custom controls.
  • Security updates for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft scripting engine, Windows kernel, Microsoft graphics component, Windows server, Windows cryptography, and Windows data center network. 19659009] Even so close to the final version, do not install this on your production machine.
