The wives of politicians are like us.
First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence – along with her motorcade – needed their fast food on Wednesday while they were in Corpus Christi, Texas, so they made a stop at Whataburger.
"When leaving the city, @FLOTUS & @SecondLady decided to go eat at @Whataburger for lunch, the American chain opened its first restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX in 1950." he tweeted Stephanie Grisham, director of communications for Mrs. Trump, along with a photo of the women who ordered her lunch.
While Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Pence, who were with Governor Greg Abbott's wife, Cecilia, stopped at the counter to place their order, the Secret Service staff was outside.
Gob. Abbott tweeted: "It seems like @ FLOTUS is knowledgeable about Texas, she and Karen Pence dined today at @Whataburger with my wife, the First Lady of Texas, they are here to receive continued help for #HurricaneHarvey. @TexasFLCA #txlege #TexasStrong" .
His visit caught the attention of Whataburger, who tweeted: "I hope it was a great meal! Thank you for visiting us."
Even the Corpus Christi Police Department took note, tweeting, "@Flotus knows a good hamburger @Whataburger."
And J.R. Hernandez, the chief of staff of the Texas land commissioner, George P. Bush, tweeted photos of the trip and wrote: "@FLOTUS @SecondLady @TexasFLCA @georgepbush must stop in the best hamburger in the United States: @Whataburger"
Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Pence spent the day at the Corpus Christi meeting with the first responders who worked on the relief effort of Hurricane Harvey. They also traveled to Rockport, Texas, to meet a family whose house was destroyed by the storm. They also visited the new unit of manufactured homes of the family, provided by FEMA, which will serve as the temporary residence of the family until they can move to a new rebuilt house. The women also visited a primary school and a food bank.
