Capcom celebrated the 30th anniversary of Mega Man during a live broadcast today. After mocking that it would be an event that fans would not want to miss, the editor shared several announcements, the most significant of which is the revelation of a new game, Mega Man 11.
There are not many details on this point, but we do know that Mega Man 11 will be released for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will be released in 2018 and will be directed by Koji Oda, with Kazuhiro Tsuchiya on board as a producer. We see a brief look at some game modes in a video: check it up.
Like its predecessors, Mega Man 11 is still a 2D side-scrolling action platform. During the broadcast, the developers said that the main objective in the development is to "resurrect" Mega Man. Fundamentally, it looks very similar to Mega Man's previous games, although it presents a remarkably different style of art. A key visual difference is that the appearance of Mega Man will change when you acquire a new weapon, not just its color.
We did not share a more specific release date than 2018, and it may be a while before we learn much more about the project. Capcom said we will receive more information next summer. Also during the broadcast, we learned that the eight Mega Man X games are headed to the same platforms as Mega Man 11 in 2018. Also, both MegaMan Legacy Collection and Legacy Collection 2 are heading to Switch in 2018 with some form of Amiibo support. .
